BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Friday, December 12, 2014) Dusty Payne (HAW) .- The final stop of the 2014  World Championship Tour, the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, was  called ON today in double overhead surf. <br />

Competition began with the final of Men's Pipe Masters Invitational. It had been a 32-man event comprising of local Pipe specialists competing for a US$100,000 prize purse as well as two wildcard positions in the Billabong Pipe Masters. <br />
Reef MacIntosh (HAW) and Makai McNamara (HAW) who moved into the main event.<br />
IN the World Title showdown both Mick Fanning (AUS) and Gabriel Medina (BRA) won their heats today  and moved straight into Round 3 while Kelly Slater (USA) lost his heat and will have to surf in the sudden death Round 2.<br />
The Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons will determine this year’s world surfing champion as well as those who qualify for the elite tour in 2015. As the third and final stop on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Series  the event will also determine the winner of the revered three-event leg.<br />

The ASP Heritage Series, which celebrates the rich culture and history of professional surfing, had it's third and final competitive event of the season today with a four-man heat between Gary Elkerton (AUS), Tom Carroll (AUS), Derek Ho (HAW) and Sunny Garcia (HAW). Carroll dominated the final with Garcia in 2nd , Ho  3rd and Elekerton 4th.<br />

The world’s best female surfers also competed at Pipeline this afternoon in the Women’s Pipe Masters Invitational with reigning six-time  Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) finished in 4th while two-time Women’s World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) easily won the heat., Australian powerhouse Tyler Wright (AUS) was 2nd and international icon Bethany Hamilton (HAW)  finished 3rd.
